I’ve been watching Instagram stories from a photographer I follow currently in Uganda at an orphanage. They are very poor and made a soccer ball out of plastic bags and strings. They were all dancing and playing, smiling and laughing even tho they don’t have much. Yesterday they got a brand new soccer ball and I cried. We are so lucky. I am so lucky. Today about half the children were packed lunches the rest had to go hungry. Food waste is running rampant and it makes me so sad— all of that food could feed a nation. What we have in our fridge is as good as gold. We should treat it as so. We should also treat our bodies with respect by giving it good food, food your excited about, food you’re proud of, food that you know the exact farm which it has come— we are incredibly lucky to have the funds and the access. In short I’m asking you to think about food, think about what you have, what you throw out, where it comes from and those that go without. With the extra savings from actually using what you buy or buying less you might be able to buy more food, better quality food or donate to those less fortunate. I’m not trying to make you feel guilty or tell you you’re awful, I’m talking to myself here too. This is just something I’m very passionate about. I want to be able to reach more people about food, food waste, food shortage to try and help anyone, whether it be yourselves, your family, your friends, your community, another community, another countries community. We are so lucky. I am so lucky. Check out the organization below I am in no way affiliated with this organization nor mentioned photographer.
